It’s an oven around here during the summer, but as most locals know, the heat can often be beat with sunscreen, shade, and swimming. Cowabunga Bay is a retro-themed water park designed to be an exciting day out for all ages! You can cool off with more than 20 slides, the longest lazy river in Nevada, 4 surf-and-swim pools, an interactive splash zone, and a variety of shade structures. It even features a kid’s play area with 10 pint-sized slides and a number of tipping buckets. There’s gourmet food items alongside traditional snacking favorites for when you get hungry, and adults can chill out beside the pool with a Pineapple Dole Whip mimosa. As the largest water park in the state, Cowabunga Bay is the ultimate in family and guest entertainment, and the perfect way to pass a hot summer day.

The average temperature is 20-30 degrees cooler than that of the surrounding Nevada desert, and it’s only a half an hour drive from Las Vegas. What’s not to love about Mount Charleston? Located in a desert landscape near the California border, Mount Charleston is one of the highest elevations in Nevada, and perfect for a day trip from the city. You can hike, picnic, go horseback riding, or simply take in the beautiful scenery all around you! There are trails for visitors of all ages and skill levels, including the wheelchair-accessible Acastus Trail, so every member of your family can enjoy time in the great outdoors. Mount Charleston also offers tent and RV camping as well as a resort, just in case you want to spend a little extra time out under the stars in this quiet mountain setting.

Las Vegas, NV 89109
This is one of our top picks for local attractions because it’s free, fun, and educational! When you look across the lobby from the front desk of the Bellagio Hotel, you’ll see a beautiful glass ceiling rising 50 feet into the air. This is your welcome to the stunning Conservatory and gardens, offering a feast for your eyes all year long. During the summer, you’ll be able to take advantage of hundreds of lush colors and delicious fragrance everywhere you turn. Currently, the Bellagio is showing off its love for all things Italian with the La Dolce Vita display. This 14,000 square foot floral wonder includes lemon trees, a fountain, swans, and thousands of flowers. It will be on display until September, so make time to see it before it’s gone!
